The Grove Methodist Church

The Grove Methodist Church was opened in 1868.  It was built in the grounds of the 18th Century manor house, known as Grove House, when the existing Methodist chapel in New Street became too small.  It has attractive stained glass windows and box pews and a splendid 3-manual organ with 1700 pipes.

The Grove Methodist Church is called to respond to the Gospel of love in Jesus Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship, service and mission.

Our Sunday Services are held at:
9.00    Holy Communion  (first Sunday of the month)
10.20  Crèche
10.30  Morning Worship (Family/Parade first Sunday of month)
10.30  J-Team (tots to 12s)
6.00   Evening Worship (alternate with Central Methodist Church)
(Holy Communion is celebrated at morning an evening services as announced)
A midweek lunchtime service is at    12.30  on Thursdays in the Grove Centre Small Hall

Our worship includes Taizé Services, United Services and Circuit Services, and aims to take into account the needs of the whole church family, preserving good from the past while being open to the new.

The church is attached to the busy Grove Centre, ‘serving the community’.  Church activities include the Luncheon Club for the elderly, many uniformed organisations for children and young people, the Women’s Fellowship, Ladies Group, Wednesday Break, Flower Guild, Choir, Bible Fellowship, Prayer Meeting, Pre-school, Tots and Tykes, Line Dancing, Tuesday Coffee Morning, and teenagers’ Studio Dance group.
The church is committed to fellowship which seeks to make all welcome, builds up faith and enables care for one another.  It is also committed to sharing faith in Jesus Christ with others and bringing them into fellowship.  Church members seek to live out their faith where they work and live, witnessing by word and deed in the local community, fostering interest in world affairs, and world-wide mission and seeking to enhance the lives of those in the church neighbourhood.
